Taking place right after Shadow The Hedgehog, Shadow has a flashback 50 years into the past as he experiences Maria's death again. Shadow ponders to himself why these images keep going through his head, but as he ponders, an army of Eggman and GUN robots appear and they both seem to want Shadow on there side!

Meanwhile, high above the Earth, a strange meteor floats above. The meteor, known as the White Meteor, acts as a home to an alien race known as the "White Legs", a rivaling race to the "Black Arms". Their leader, White Dread, sees the perfect oppurtunity to take over the planet after the Black Meteor was destroyed, while the planet was still recovering from the last intergalatic attack. White Dread sends out his information giving mouth, Dread's Mouth, and a small army of White Legs to see the situation of the planet.
